Part-time Glaze Studio Assistant

Hours: Starting at 18 hours a week (may vary based on demand and studio needs)
Flexible schedule: Freedom to choose hours between Monday – Friday, 10:00 am to 5:30 pm
Rate: $20.00/hour

Summary: 

Dürt Studios is seeking a friendly, reliable, and community-oriented Part-Time Glaze Studio Assistant to join our team. You will primarily help glaze our sculpted address numbers (up to 8 a week) using premade commercial glazes. This task requires patience, dexterity, and attention to detail. 

This position is hourly, non-exempt.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Use brushes to apply multiple coats of glaze to address plaques

  • Use squeeze bottles to apply glaze when appropriate

  • Determine which glazes to use on each order using task management software (Asana/Notion) 

  • Update task management software (Asana/Notion) to track production of individual orders

  • Manage supply of glazes and pre-emptively notify staff when we need to restock 

  • Maintain a clean work area 

  • Encourage a supportive and friendly work environment 

  • Follow safety policies and procedures

Possible additional responsibilities as studio needs demand:

  • Loading and unloading kilns

  • Packaging and labeling orders to prepare them for shipping

  • Update task management software with order details

  • General studio upkeep tasks such as cleaning, kiln shelf maintenance, clay processing

  • Additional studio tasks as they arise

Qualifications & Requirements:  

  • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented

  • Experience with ceramics is highly preferred, especially with detailed, sculptural work

  • Ability to self-organize and prioritize tasks

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs

  • Ability to perform repetitive wrist motions from painting with brushes and squeeze bottles

  • Willingness to share studio space with a friendly pomeranian, Mochi
